As we observe World Sight Day on this ninth day of October, I want to toot the horn of one of the outliers in the upcoming book Ingredients of Outliers: Women Game Changers, Ophthalmologist Dr. Mildred M. G. Olivier. She has been featured in publications like the Huffington Post for her volunteer work in Haiti and has been featured as a Ophthalmologist panelist on Dr. Oz. Today, she was also honored by American Academy of Ophthalmology as a "Hero of Vision" for her volunteerism in educating patients on preventing blindness. Two of these invaluable characteristics are the abilities to be humble and go above-and-beyond in everything you do. Just recently, I ran across an incredible story about a man who displayed these two traits, and ended up saving two lives. Darrian Crutcher is a Detroit mailman.
