Three months into the year and we are now transitioning into spring, the season of renewed spirits and fresh beginnings. It’s the perfect time to pause and reflect back on our New Year’s goals, and perhaps shift our focus from those dark winter days to the sunshine ahead.
For some, this time of year feels like a second wind of motivation, while others may need more than a light pick-me-up to hit the ground running again. Regardless of what our winters have looked like, this is a transition everyone can take part in. Spring gives us the opportunity to start fresh and reclaim our awesomeness. It may require creating different goals, or changing a daily routine a bit, but that’s okay! This is the perfect time to get your flow back on course and re-claim the individual you were meant to be.
Here are 5 tips for a fresh perspective, that promise to bring about a glow better than a brand new spring wardrobe. Before making your next move, registering for your next class, ending or beginning a new relationship, ask yourself these questions to help you see better through the winter fog.
What are you really prioritizing?
Ahh… the question that really stumps us! Make a list of the top five priorities in your life from the most to least important. Make another list of the top 5 things that are taking all your time from most to least. Do your lists match up in order? You may be shocked to find that something trivial is eating up all your time.
How do you want to feel?
Deciding how you want to feel will help you embark on everyday life journeys. If you want to feel motivated, you have the power to make that part of your day. Regardless of the transition happening around you, its your job to control how you want to feel about it. If you are not excited about where you are going, you are the only one who can identify that and decide to make a change.
What will it take?
Understanding what it will take to conquer your biggest priorities will allow you to break your big goals into simpler tasks. It’s not always a hop, skip and jump away to the end goal, but doing the little steps one at a time will build your confidence that your day is coming. There are some steps that will take more time than others, but take heart, it’s on to the next baby step after that and another tally on your checklist conquered.
Where is my accountability?
A support system that provides both encouragement and constructive criticism will prove its worth when the going gets tough. Are you stuck in one of your goals or baby steps? Be honest, and tell your partner in positivity; they may see a solution that your perspective is blocking you from. Someone to hold you accountable will keep you from falling into the negative spiral and remind you of the sweet rewards that perseverance holds.
Do I remember how to have fun?
This often-overlooked and undervalued question is an important one to keep in mind. Remembering to find your joy and motivation will carry you through those stagnant days and refresh your perspective.
We encourage you to take these questions and decide what this transition has in store for you. It’s your time to spring back into the year! And for a little extra motivation, be sure to check out 5 Quotes to Boost Your Attitude This Week.
