Dr. John Shufeldt, MD, JD, MBA, FACEP introduces High School Teacher, Maribeth Sublette, in Outlier TV Segment Four about her recent professional changes.
During this Outlier TV education career segment, Maribeth explains she is now exploring the world of online education and massive open online courses (MOOCs). She is excited to explore this new realm because it offers flexibility to mix her personal lifestyle needs as well as her love of learning.
Dr. Shufeldt hired her to work with him to create online leadership classes. Full details about LeadershipYOU: Your Future Starts With You can be found here.
In LeadershipYOU: Your Future Starts With You, Dr. Shufeldt shares:

- How to become incredibly successful; when you do something you love, you will have success, whether you’re seeking it monetarily or through personal fulfillment

[intro music]>>JOHN SHUFELDT: So, Maribeth, you made some professional changes recently, what are you up to now?
>>MARIBETH SUBLETTE: So, now I.
>>JOHN SHUFELDT: I already know the answer.
>>MARIBETH SUBLETTE: He does, I am now fortunate enough to get to explore the world of online education and MOOCs. So, after you came to my classroom, as you know, I decided at the end of last year that I needed a change. I had a baby last fall and after my maternity leave I had five months of the school year left. And I thought, alright, I’m going in with an open mind. Can I do this? Can I do this mom thing and teacher thing the way that I want simultaneously? And my goodness, was that a challenge. I had the ultimate respect for men and women that really juggle those two things beautifully and gracefully. It wasn’t something that right now I felt that I could do very well. But I needed a change and the opportunity to work with you and the Outliers Series and LeadershipYOU became available and I have loved learning about MOOCs and online education. It is so different from what I expected and thought it was. I love kind of dabbling in marketing and learning again and being a student. It has been a wonderful experience.
>>JOHN SHUFELDT: Well we are thrilled to have you.
>>MARIBETH SUBLETTE: Thank you.
>>JOHN SHUFELDT: Thanks. That was Maribeth Sublette, teacher extraordinaire, we are fortunate enough to have her on the Outliers in Education book and the Outliers Series team. Maribeth, thank you.
