One of our favorite “luck” quotes for you on this fine St. Patrick’s Day, is from Christine Jones, 2014 Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate well-known for her success at GoDaddy as Chief Counsel and for her efforts to make the internet safer for everyone, especially children.
With quotes like “Stop talking about it and just do it.” and “People treat you how you let them treat you,” which she repeats anytime she speaks anywhere, her quips are usually short but will leave you thinking. When I saw her at the Arizona StartupConnect conference in 2013, I remember walking away empowered to step towards my ideas and ignore the annoying pessimism that sometimes likes to follow anything great.
When we sat down to interview her for the upcoming book (which is going to print today by the way- wooh!) Ingredients of Outliers: Women Game Changers, I knew what we’d leave with would have our readers holding their books in excitement, giving birth to so many great ideas. We’d be planting seeds of new businesses, of dreams come true for first generation college graduates, a legacy built for women business owners, and giant steps outside of tightly wound comfort zones for high potential individuals. Yes, I’m telling you, she’s that awesome!
Here is a little piece from you, a preview of our interview with her, which can be found individually in eBook, or as a chapter in Ingredients of Outliers: Women Game Changers:
“No matter how hard I work, or how well I’ve had it planned, no matter
how good a vision I had of where I was going, no matter how I did
visualizing exercises, and prayed, and believed, and all these other
things, there’s definitely still some amount of measured luck in the
process. So, while you’re being the hardest working person you know,
try to create opportunities to get lucky.”
